Job Title: Senior AI/ML Engineer – Autonomous Agents & Generative AI

Location: Remote
Client: CVS
Visa: USC, GC only (Contract-to-Hire)
Duration: Initial POC / Project (6–12 months, with potential extension based on success)
Department: Emerging Technologies / AI Engineering

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead the design and development of intelligent autonomous agents and generative AI systems. This role requires expertise in large language models (LLMs), multi-agent frameworks, and AI infrastructure to build next-generation applications for healthcare and enterprise use cases.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with Python, AI/ML frameworks, GCP, and SAP (plus), along with strong data modeling and SQL expertise. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with CVS, offering the chance to grow into a long-term leadership role in emerging AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement autonomous AI agents using LLMs, planning algorithms, and decision-making frameworks.

  • Build agent architectures that enable reasoning, planning, interactivity, and task completion.

  • Develop and integrate generative AI models into enterprise applications (e.g., copilots, chatbots, automation tools).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, data, and product teams to iterate on agent capabilities and enhance user experience.

  • Optimize agent performance using reinforcement learning, human-in-the-loop feedback, and adaptive learning loops.

  • Ensure security, ethical compliance, and reliability in AI agent design and deployment.

  • Document model architecture, workflows, and system dependencies for scalability and knowledge transfer.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Programming: Strong expertise in Python; exposure to JavaScript or Go is a plus.

  • AI/ML Frameworks: Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI API.

  • LLMs & Generative AI: Experience building solutions using GPT-based models, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

  • Agent Frameworks: Familiarity with AutoGPT, CrewAI, LangGraph, BabyAGI, ReAct, or similar multi-agent systems.

  • Reinforcement Learning: Understanding of multi-agent systems, agent-based modeling, and simulation environments.

  • Cloud & Data: Strong background in GCP (BigQuery, AI Platform, Vertex AI) and SQL modeling. Exposure to SAP is a plus.

  • Data Engineering: Experience with vector databases, pipelines, model deployment, and containerization.

  • Healthcare Domain: Prior work in healthcare projects with strong knowledge of HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field.

  • Contributions to open-source AI projects or published portfolio in agent-based systems.

  • Experience with human-AI interaction, conversational UX, or synthetic data generation.

  • Exposure to AWS or Azure in addition to GCP.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills.
