Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in Product Management specifically within
Retail Tech, Payments, or POS.
- Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of POS hardware (scanners/printers) and software (checkout flows/pricing). Experience with
Convenience Store (C-Store) or Grocery operations is highly preferred.
- AI Proficiency: Hands-on familiarity with
Generative AI (Claude, ChatGPT, or GitHub Copilot) for requirement discovery and drafting.
- Agile Mastery: Expert in writing epics and user stories; strong understanding of software architecture concepts (APIs, Databases, CI/CD).
- Communication: Elite ability to explain complex technical refactoring to non-technical business stakeholders.
Role Overview
QuikTrip is undergoing a high-stakes modernization of its custom
Point of Sale (POS) system. We are seeking a strategic POS Product Manager to own the vision and roadmap for this digital transformation. This is a unique role that combines traditional retail product management with cutting-edge
Generative AI (Claude AI) to extract legacy feature sets, refactor codebases, and draft complex user stories. You will act as the "bridge" between store operations and engineering, ensuring the new POS delivers a seamless digital experience while improving
operational efficiency across the fleet.
Technical Core & Responsibilities
AI-Driven Feature Discovery & Roadmap
- Legacy Extraction: Use
Claude AI (Anthropic) to analyze existing POS codebases and documentation to identify business rules and "truth tables."
- Roadmap Ownership: Define the product vision, prioritizing requirements gathered through stakeholder interviews, site visits, and market analysis.
- Gherkin Documentation: Lead the generation of structured requirements and
Gherkin user story sets with precise, testable acceptance criteria for multi-path retail scenarios.
POS Modernization & Technical Strategy
- Refactoring Guidance: Collaborate with architects to guide the technical upgrade from on-premise legacy systems to
Cloud/Mobile POS platforms.
- Integration Management: Plan the integration of new technologies, including
contactless payments, digital wallets, loyalty programs, and fuel management.
- Data Migration: Oversee the strategy for migrating transaction and inventory data to the updated platform without disrupting store uptime.
Agile Delivery & Stakeholder Alignment
- Backlog Leadership: Maintain the product backlog, prioritizing features with the highest business impact (Uptime, Transaction Speed, Checkout Abandonment).
- Liaison Excellence: Serve as the primary point of contact between IT, Finance, Store Operations, and Engineering teams.
- Feedback Loops: Build iterative loops with store managers to refine features based on real-world usage and qualitative data.
