The lathe comes with a self-centering spindle chuck to hold the dowel in
the headstock

You need to buy a self-centering drill chuck to hold the drill in the
tailstock

It should be - depends on the quirks of the lathe you get and how big a
hole you need.
The lathe is not itself very precise in the engineering sense, but it is
capable of good
work when used appropriately.

what i need it to do is drill a hole stright through the middle of a piece of dowel which has been shaped so could be 1 centermeter wide i then need to put a hole sgight through the middle of the dowel hole size wise looking at 0.5mm
