Has anyone else had and issues or problems with the Auto Feed
Attachement?
I have stripped down my lathe, removed all packing grease, dirt, dust
and casting sand etc and the spent a long time re-assembling the lathe
adjusting all gib strips etc to get a smooth operation (on the
leadscrew and cross slide especially) etc. All was fine.
Then I attached the Auto Feed Attachment to the lead screw and powered
up the lathe. When I engaged the Auto Feed Attachment the motor at
that point almost stalled and I switched off the lathe immediately.
Disengaging the Auto Feed Attachment I then tried to revolve the
leadscrew handwheel by hand and found it extremely stiff/tight. I was
concerned that the force I need to apply might damage some component
so desisted straight away. It seemed to be biding on something.
Despite being fully pulled out the Auto Feed Attachement seemed to be
still engaged as the knurled know at the end revolved as I turn the
lead screw handwheel.
Any ideas anyone? Anyone experienced the same and resolved the issue?
