Hey guys, I'm a new user just recently joined and i'm sad to say this group looks dead. Hope there are still some active members. Ive only recently purchased a used Seig C0 of Flea-Bay and its got a number of issues. The one id like to raise today is the ZYT-150 Watt electric Motor. It has brushes and I think the bearing on the pulley side is beginning to 'go'. I would be pleased if someone could give me information regarding this motor or preferably the bearings it use specifically the internal and external diameters and its width. Im sure its just a common closed shell ball bearing journal but if you can correct me on this i will still be happy. I have had a peek and i can make out the letters of BMW on one bearing but i doubt that's of any help to anyone. Id like to order the bearings and swap them over when they arrive rather than strip the motor , order the bearings wait and then reassemble the motor and lathe as this would mean a lot of down time.

John,

You’re right that we’ve not had traffic for a while.

I hope somebody can help you, otherwise you’ll need to strip down your motor.

Do you live in country where the C0 is still sold?
If so, your importer may be able to help.

In the UK:
- Axminster still sell the C0, and their customer service is good.
- Arc Euro Trade have stopped selling the lathe itself, but have knowledgable technical staff and may well be able to sell you the right bearings.

An alternative is to replace the motor and controller altogether, using a comparable low-voltage set-up and making an adapter plate. (Check direction of rotation!)

Thanks David, I spoke with Axminster , and while they are indeed helpfull they hade no information regarding the actual bearing but could sell me the motor for £100+ ... Yea.. but Naa. So ive stripped the motor out and dismantled it. The bearing seem OK, Not great the one oin the pulley side spins very freely but you can feel a little notchiness from it occasionally so its likely on the way out. The other seems fine which is what i would expect as the 'front' bearing on the pulley side does the majority of the work with the axial load from the pulley and v belt.

FYI or anyone that needs the info the bearings are 608Z with 22mm OD, 8mm ID and 7mm thick. Standard sealed ball bearing from what i can tell. The BMW i mentioned earlier is actually MW8 but i dont know what that refers too. Makers mark or Bearing type ? Anyway I think i will look into replacing them both with proper Roller bearings. Should last a little longer in this application. Two bearing should only cost me about £5 so a LOT better than £100+
