Hii,
I can't make it either, dumb accident last week. I bumped my head
into the freezer door since I forgot to close it, went down into the
fridge and crashed into it on my way up. I've been feeling dizzy and
off balance since then whenever I move my head around too much/too
fast. After the news about that actress my fiancee kept saying "see
go to the doctor you're going to die" lol so I gave in, went to the
doctor, and she said I just bumped my head hard enough to displace
some of the bones in my ear and that I have temporary positional
vertigo. So I'm staying home since the prescription they gave me
causes drowsiness and I keep getting dizzy if I move my head around
too much after a while.
As for stuff I wanted to bring up for the meeting here it goes
I think the AMNH would be a great venue but Jessica mentioned her
company did it and it came out to 150K but they were free to roam the
museum. I don't know if you are free to roam regardless or if extra
was paid to be able to do so, but maybe if we stick to only one room
in the museum it would lower the cost if it's the later. Perhaps we
should look into less popular museums, galleries, etc. since they
might have similar venues but at a lesser price. If we were to do so
then we would have to consider the cost of catering however.
I like Danielle's idea of charging +1's extra if it would allow for us
to make that option available. Chances are if we do this then not
everyone will want to bring along a +1 and the extra charge might help
to offset some of the cost.
As for invitations I know that around Bed Bath and Beyond around the
18th/23rd st area there are several specialty paper stores. In
particular I find Paper Presentation to be very good. Here is a link
http://paperpresentation.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT They
definitely carry envelopes which would catch peoples attention for
example I think a bright "science" green envelope would catch
someone's attention.
Assuming we actually send out about 600 invitations it would come out
to around $84-94 +tax for the envelopes.
Or we could go with some kind of card stock and turn it into a post
card type mailing this way we get rid of the cost of the envelope if
we use a 4x6 size card it would come out to about $140 for the paper
then an undetermined amount for printing.
If we were to go with plain white perforated post cards then it would
come out to about $50 for the paper and an undetermined amount for
printing.
I've used that store for my baby shower invitations and my dad has
used them for pamphlets, artist bio, take-aways etc. for his art
exhibits and art shows. We just buy the paper, envelopes, etc and
print them ourselves either off a computer printer or in my dad's case
he sometimes prints them himself since he does fine art serigraphy
(silk screen). If you buy in bulk they offer discounts. This could
be an option if we want to go for something which looks a bit more
formal as opposed to glossy flyer type invites. I could also ask my
dad how much it would come out to if we were to use him.
To cut on the cost of additional paper and return mailing envelopes,
stamps etc. we could say to RSVP via
evite.com
I think that is about all I had on my mind and wanted to share before/
during the meeting.
Ciao,
Erika
