I had a good experience purchasing a minus 40 from California, I am
in Colorado USA. The owner made a wooden box, wrapped the motor in
saran wrap - to keep the foam off the metal and paint. Then wrapped
some shredded paper around that and sprayed spray foam/ like
insulating foam, it hardens like a brick and sticks to the wooden crate
to anchor the motor.. Spraying around the head and foot mostly. He
could have used a little more foam. It seemed he used maybe a half can
. I would have used 2 cans and rather had an hour job gettin it out
than have it move around. BUT it did not move and I was HAPPY. I
would think this would work with a couple large boxes from UHaul cut
down to form around the motor then spray the foam.. Hope this helps
some of you that have fears in shipping..

Hi Tom...
I just joined the group, but the foam packing idea sounds really good.
What a contrast with the way my Seagull arrived from TX...stuck into a
single layer, too large, cardboard box so it was able to bouonce around
...actually, the skeg and part of the prop were protruding from the box
upon delivery. By a miracle, nothing was broken!
