Centerboard Winch

Hi,

I have the centerboard winch in the starboard locker (see photo). I have to replace the wire rope because of a broken strand. Does anyone know how the wire rope is affixed to the centerboard winch? I don’t want to unwind it all now because I’m afraid of the wire rope breaking while pulling the centerboard back up. I’ll do the repair when I get hauled for bottom painting. I just want to make sure I have whatever parts might be needed (e.g., Nicopress fitting).
