Please plan ahead and mark your calendars for this year's club camp out and stein bier brew day, June 20th-22nd. We will of course continue the tradition of brewing over a campfire with hot rocks. The event will be at the same campground location as the last few years:

SPIRE ROCK CAMPGROUND

Custer Gallatin National Forest

Group Site #12

Calendar iconSat, Jun 20, 2026

Check In: 2:00 PM

Calendar iconMon, Jun 22, 2026

Check Out: 12:00 PM

As always you need to bring your own drinking water, food and shelter. There is a slight change to how we’ll do the dates just because we were a little late on getting it booked, check in at the campground will be 2:00 on Saturday June 20th, and the brew day will be on Sunday. You can stay and camp both Saturday and Sunday nights or head home Sunday night if you’d prefer.

We are still taking suggestions for the style of beer to brew and don’t yet have a designated head brewer.  Steve and I have dialed in this brew a lot over the last few years and will definitely be able to consult with recipe design and brew day execution.

Cheers

Hi All,

Quick update as we are about a month out from our campout starting Saturday June 20th. The brew day will on Sunday the 21st.  Note that brewing on Sunday is a shift from our normal schedule.   We have the site for Sat and Sun night, check out is Monday morning.

We will need lots of firewood. Everyone attending needs to bring as much as they can.  Hardwood is preferred for creating a hot bed of coals on brew day, if you have any kind of a hardwood scrap wood connection (ie a company like Gibson or a woodworker) let me know even if you can’t make it to the campout.  Regular old firewood is still good if that’s all you can get your hands on.

If you plan on attending please RSVP to me by sending me a quick email saying what days/nights you’ll be there. This will just help us plan for tent sites and parking a little better.

Dan and I are working out a Rauchbier Lager recipe with plans to take advantage of the smoke flavors we got in last years brew and potentially the option to do a split batch with some home smoked malt as well.

Further details are below or feel free to reach out with any questions you might have.

Cheers, Ryan

Final Update: Campout and Iron Brewer Tasting

The steinbier brew day is one week away, Sunday June 21st. Camping begins on Saturday the 20th. Remember to bring wood for the fire and everything you need to keep yourself alive. It sounds like we will have a bigger crowd than the last couple of years so let's try to keep the parking lot tight. There's a decent chance of rain both days if you have a pop up awning or some kind of rain cover please bring it along.

And we'll do our Iron Brewer competition tasting on Sunday starting about 2:00pm. It may go at a casual pace given the brew will probably still be wrapping up, but feel free to come out for the Iron Brewer even if you're not camping.

Cheers, Ryan
