Hi, Bridger Brew Crew! Thanks for having me at the July homebrew club meeting at Ryan's house. It was fun to meet a bunch of you and drink some pale lagers. Ryan just attended my most recent Beer 201 Club tasting last night (thanks, Ryan!), and he's encouraged me to email the Bridger Brew Crew about it. Here are the details:
- most Mondays, 5:30-7:00 PM
- Join whenever you can make it, but please RSVP in advance so I know how much beer to buy.
- For RSVPs & questions, contact me by email (ri...@richhiggins.com), phone (415-305-2948), or Instagram DM @maltyrich
- $20 per person, plus varying beer costs (about $7-$10)
The vibe: The tastings are laid back and inclusive, with the goal of building beer knowledge, accurate descriptive language, confidence in your tasting skills, and understanding of BJCP styles! During the 90-minute session, we'll taste 3-5 beers. (Most of it will be blind tasting.)
How "advanced" is this advanced beer tasting? We'll do some deep dives into tasting technique, styles and brewing ingredients and techniques.
Don't worry if you're not super confident in your tasting skills or beer knowledge. This is a snob-free and judgement-free zone! But, we won't slow things way down to cover Beer 101 basics of beer and styles. Regardless of your knowledge and experience, enjoy jumping in the deep end of the beer pool and you'll learn a lot from your beers and your peers!
Tasting technique: We use my Deductive Beer Tasting Method for structured tasting technique -- info is at
