As I've written a number of times, the improvisational theories have
direct analogues to writing theories, which is why so many Second City
alumni end up with writing careers. (I wrote an article on this some
years back for the Dramatists Guild magazine.)
I'm running a workshop in improvisational techniques for play
development at the Dramatists Guild blast in Fairfax, VA next week.
I'm teaching these techniques at greater length later this month as
part of the annual summer improv intensive beginning June 24 in the
Catskills.
Later in the summer, in August, I'm also hosting a five-day retreat
concentrating on writing.
