"Spirituality and the Arts: Centering the Soul in Difficult
Times", a workshop for actors, dancers, singers, musicians, and writers
of all kinds, will be offered one day only on July 19th, from 1 to 3
pm, at Boston Playwrights' Theater, 949 Commonwealth Ave. Sponsored by
Good Works Productions, the workshop (open to all faiths and those who
are still questioning, wherever they may be on their journey) will be
led by Monica Bauer, graduate of the BU playwriting program and the
Yale Divinity School. Monica is a playwright, composer, actor, and
director whose work has been presented in Boston, Denver, San Diego,
Atlanta, the Hamptons, and off-off Broadway. An ordained UCC minister,
she is currently a Writing Fellow at Quinnipiac University in Hamden,
Connecticut. Donation of $30 (or pay what you can for the unemployed)

"Writing is Rewriting: Coping Strategies for Emerging
Playwrights," a writing workshop for playwrights with insights from
Marsha Norman, Craig Lucas, Edward Albee, and others, will be held at
Boston Playwrights' Theater, 949 Commonwealth Ave., on July 19th, from
3 to 5 pm. Led by award-winning playwright Monica Bauer (Outstanding
Playwriting, Midtown International Theater Festival 2008, New York;
Finalist for the 2008 Heideman Award, among others), workshop will
focus on lessons learned by Bauer in Master Classes taken at the
Kennedy Center Summer Playwriting Intensive, the Great Plains Theater
Festival, and a workshop with Craig Lucas taken at The Flea Theater in
New York. Focus will be on the use of revision to find the playwright's
true voice, and how to tell if your story can best be told on stage, in
fiction, or the non-fiction essay form. Bring laptops or pen and paper,
whichever you prefer. Donation of $30 (or pay what you can for the
