Hi Everyone,

I wanted to remind you about two workshops being led by former Boston
playwright, Monica Bauer, at Boston Playwrights Theatre, this Sunday,
July 19. In addition to sharing useful and fun information, Monica's
using the event to help finance entry of her musical, Lighter, to the
New York Musical Theatre Festival (a very big deal).

To encourage folks to attend, Monica is offering a special 2 for 1
discount--so bring a friend. Or if you bring three friends, you get
to enroll for free.

I'll paste the info below. If you plan to attend, please e-mail her
at playwr...@aol.com, so she has a good idea of how many folks
will be there.

I hope I'll see some of you there.

"Spirituality and the Arts: Centering the Soul in Difficult Times", a
workshop for actors, dancers, singers, musicians, and writers of all
kinds, will be offered one day only on July 19th, from 1 to 3 pm, at
Boston Playwrights' Theater, 949 Commonwealth Ave. Sponsored by Good
Works Productions, the workshop (open to all faiths and those who are
still questioning, wherever they may be on their journey) will be led
by Monica Bauer, graduate of the BU playwriting program and the Yale
Divinity School. Monica is a playwright, composer, actor, and director
whose work has been presented in Boston, Denver, San Diego, Atlanta,
the Hamptons, and off-off Broadway. An ordained UCC minister, she is
currently a Writing Fellow at Quinnipiac University in Hamden,
Connecticut. Donation of $30 (or pay what you can for the unemployed)
will be accepted at the door starting at 12:30. Learn more about the
workshop presenter at www.monicabauer.com For further information,
write to Monica at playwr...@aol.com.

"Writing is Rewriting: Coping Strategies for Emerging Playwrights," a
writing workshop for playwrights with insights from Marsha Norman,
Craig Lucas, Edward Albee, and others, will be held at Boston
Playwrights' Theater, 949 Commonwealth Ave., on July 19th, from 3 to 5
pm. Led by award-winning playwright Monica Bauer (Outstanding
Playwriting, Midtown International Theater Festival 2008, New York;
Finalist for the 2008 Heideman Award, among others), workshop will
focus on lessons learned by Bauer in Master Classes taken at the
Kennedy Center Summer Playwriting Intensive, the Great Plains Theater
Festival, and a workshop with Craig Lucas taken at The Flea Theater in
New York. Focus will be on the use of revision to find the
playwright's true voice, and how to tell if your story can best be
told on stage, in fiction, or the non-fiction essay form. Bring
laptops or pen and paper, whichever you prefer. Donation of $30 (or
pay what you can for the unemployed) will be accepted at the door.
