Hello Everyone, Welcome to my post. I hope you all are enjoying your
day.
I am curious as to whether or not anyone in the greater Boston area
would be interested in joining a monthly playwright's workshop?

An ideal number of people would be 4 to 5.

We can hammer out the details for how/when and where collectively, but
for now, I thought I would head up getting a small playwright's group
together. I am in Medford...hopefully there are others near Boston.

Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers,

Joe

Hello, all!  I am interested in anew playwrights group, although I still have very strong ties with Playwrights' Platform and always will.

I do want to take this opportunity to let any of you know that Image Theater in Lowell (my company) is still looking for a few short "adult only" plays for our 5th annual "Keep Your Kids At Home Naughty Readings" to be held Nov 14th upstairs at The Old Court.  If you have any fun "promiscuous, sexy, silly, kinky" plays of ten minutes or less, send them to me at

Jbis...@comcast.net or check out our site at

www.Image theater.com

Sorry to use this venue to advert this, but I figured you all are playwrights, so, what the hell...

IAN:

I certainly would like a forum where I can spend more time talking
shop with other playwrights. I live in Somerville and prefer
something accessible by some combination of MBTA and foot.

Speaking of which, if any of you have already joined the The Loop
Online's social networking site there's a subgroup there for Boston
playwrights as well: http://thelooponline.ning.com/group/bostonplaywrights

OKAY....well there sounds like there is enough interest in the Greater Boston area for a playwright's group.

Like I mentioned, I am willing to head up the actual assembly of it... and then hopefully it can take off from there.

In past attempts of trying to formulate writing groups, it makes best sense, initially, to just have everyone interested meet somewhere first. Have coffee or whatever, chat...no writing, no bringing their stuff, just brainstorm about group, workshopping approaches, and maybe make a tenative schedule, solidify a next place to meet--swap e-mails, phone numbers..and that's it.

Hopefully, people are interested in my spearheading effort. I am aiming to coordinate this "after work hours" but not "too after work hours" meeting the week following Labor Day somewhere along the Red Line for the Medford, Malden, Somerville, N Camb folks. And somewhere where there is parking for other commuters. ( JP reply--let me know if this is also good for you, it might be out of the way for you)

Let me know if you would still be interested in this meeting (maybe for about an hour) and I will send out the exact details to everyone prior to Labor Day.

Thanks-Joe

Hi Folks:

I sent out a message last week about interest in a Greater Boston Playwright's group, I got a good response and set up a time for this Tuesday @ 6:30pm near Alewife.

I got a few responses from people who couldn't make it but wanted to be kept in the loop, however, I am unsure of the number of people who will attend.

If you intend to be there Tuesday night could you respond to me directly (individually) so I can get an accurate show of hands.

Or if you are still interested in the group and can't make it, and haven't already let me know, please send me an e-mail as well, so I can keep you in the loop.

Thanks-Joe

Joe:

I can't make it. I have the first read through that night for a play
that we will be doing in Newburyport in October. I am interested. What I
would love to be a part of is a cluster of small writing/play
workshopping/producing groups, with a focus on helping each other
develop plays, inlcuding table readings, staged readings, improv, etc,
and if there are plays that merit productioin, then within the larger
group the possibility of sharing three or so small venues.

Sorry we'll miss it. Thanks for doing it, and keep us up to date.

Hi all:

Reminder. Tomorrow at 6:30p at Hester's in N. Cambridge, Alewife Red Line stop.

Sounds like there are some who can come, and some that might make it. So we are going forward with the initial meeting nonetheless.

I will let the folks who were interested but couldn't come...., know how it went. And what our next steps are, etc.

Thanks-Joe
