12/9 Bald Eagles, Etc. in Jamaica Plain

I birded Wards and Jamaica Ponds in late afternoon until nightfall. Another day another warbler species at Wards Pond

Great Blue Heron 1
Canada Goose 125 arrived at nightfall mostly
American Black Duck 2
Green-winged Teal 1
Hooded Merganser 34
Ring-necked Duck 16
Ruddy Duck 2
Bald Eagle 2 eating a duck on the ice; a juvenile and a 2nd year; near dusk
Hairy Woodpecker Wards Pond (also saw one on the 7th of December
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 on ice at one point at Wards Pond (Orange-crowned Warbler on the 7th)
Musk Rat 2 one in each pond
