Registration

As many of you know, there is a state law requiring registration of bicycles which is impossible to observe in most of the state as the municipal governments don’t know about it whose only value is the recovery of stolen bicycles.

I have heard from two long-time residents of the area of a registration, possibly required by law although probably not universally known, which included license plates. These two say that they remember seeing the license plates. Do any of you know about such registration?
