Hi everyone, just thought I'd send an update on Trouble(Midknight Shockwave).  She decided to celebrate her 11th birthday by having a Pyometra Ovariohysterectomy.  She's doing ok and is recovering uneventfully thus far.
I never had her spayed because for the first year she was here she was so nervous about so many things I just didn't want to put her through it.  I have no male dogs and her heats were no big deal.  In hindsight, I would never not have a bitch spayed again.
This is my first experience with Pyometra, any imput would be appreciated.  I was also wondering if any of the siblings are still around.

We have had a couple of cases of pyo in aged bitches. Generally they have
survived the surgery and done quite well afterwards. The worst outcome I
got was Domino who threw a clot and had loss of circulation to a hind leg.
That was dec of 2007. We had to have the hind leg ampuatated. Domino is
doing OK and is still active although she is a bit wobbly. On the other
hand she will be 13 in 10 days so I would say she has some old age
problems independent of the loss of the leg.

Norma--
Leigh and I had to spay one of his old bitches at 10 or thereabouts. She bounced back very well--and celebrated her 14th birthday in February. She was never as sick as I would have expected with pyometra, but surgery was definitely needed! It's a judgement call--it's really scary leaving a stressy dog at the vet for elective surgery.

Hi Norma
Trouble's brother Marshall is still with me and I'm grateful for everyday we have together as he quickly became a "heartdog".  He's slowing down a bit but he can still keep his ten sometimes obnoxious children in line:))  Their brother Stormy (previously known as Furby) is loving life up in Alaska with his mom Kersti Palmer and his nephew Eddie (a Marshall son)  I also believe the sister with Janice McFerrin is doing well...I think her name is Sonnet.  Not sure about any others.
I also had to have an emergency spay done on one of my girls this year when she developed pyo...have never been quick to spay just for GP after I lost a healthy 4 yr old to DIC post spay years ago but have had to rethink on that and had a few of my older girls spayed this year.
I'm glad to hear Trouble is doing well
