Late Summer Book Club!

Hello Ladies!!!

I hope everyone is having the most wonderful summer and enjoying this beautiful SF summer day!! Weirdly, it is actually sunny and warm! :) 

I'm the rookie to the group and while we were small in number last meeting, I had the most wonderful time and am so looking forward to our next one!

The ladies were generous enough to let me try this whole "hosting" thing for our next meeting and I'm so excited to meet you all and discuss the book! 

We will be reading "Men We Reaped: A Memoir," by Jesmyn Ward, a book that's been on my list for a while. I had such a hard time deciding what we should read this round, (too many great books out there, too little time!), but in light of all that is going on in our country right now, I felt this would really resonate with us and be especially poignant and topical.

LADIES!! HELLLOO!!!

I was convinced I had already sent out an email confirming the date of our meeting, but alas, I didn't!!! (Thank you Rachel and Jackie for the friendly reminder!) What a rookie move!!! I'm SO SO SO SO SORRY!!! #SummermarnFail

It looks like most of us can make Sunday, August 28th at 5pm (we'll miss you Yvonne!). 

Hopefully, that still works for you guys despite my delayed date confirmation!

We'll meet at my place, 54 Dorland St. 

I will prepare a traditional southern dish of sorts for our main course (and some cornbread, because who doesn't love cornbread?!?), and if people are able to bring some apps, a salad, some dessert, that would be wonderful! Let me know what you're able to bring and I'll send out a draft of our menu soon! :) 

Again, I hope I haven't completely blown it and that you all can make it! 

And...I hope you guys loved the book as much as I did. So looking forward to discussing it with you guys!

Hey Ladies!
I hope everyone is having a great week and I'm excited to see those of you who can join us on Sunday!

If I read the emails correctly (sorry in advance for any mistakes!), I have in attendance:

If anyone wants to brings apps, dessert or another side that is always welcome but the Jewish Mother in me promises to make sure there is way TOO MUCH food for everyone. :)

Soooooooo fun! I wish I could make it, Marni. If the next one is before September 22 I can make it to the Sept bookclub...I can even "host" (as a nomad) if everyone agrees to a "happy hour bookclub" or something. ;)
