I've moved my 4,000+ bookmarks back and forth numerous times between a
few social bookmarking services (
del.icio.us, ma.gnolia, Google
Bookmarks) and Firefox 3 over the last couple of years, and I often
had to use
del.icio.us as a conduit because it was the only service
fully supported by others' import tools. The major downside to this is
that
del.icio.us, unlike most of the others, doesn't support spaces
*within* tags because it uses them as separators, so going back and
forth between services usually means manually converting many
thousands of underscores back to spaces. After switching to BlinkList,
I tried exporting my bookmarks as a spreadsheet so that I could try
doing a faster find-and-replace there, but unfortunately I'm running
into OpenOffice 3's limit to the number of spreadsheet rows it can
handle (and I no longer have Excel for my Mac).
If BlinkList built a "Convert all underscores in tags to spaces" tool
right into its website, it would give it a *huge* edge over other non-
del.icio.us bookmarking sites in terms of saving time converting
tags!
