Hello,

I do not want to worry because the new BlinkList interfase is really
nice, but I only have a handful of a couple thousands blinks I used to
have the week before. I want to believe that all my blinks will come
back soon, but if someone at MindValley were kind enough to confirm my
hopes I will be happy.

Best regards,

BTW, I am willing to help with the translation to Spanish...

I am not worried, because the changings have been announced months
ago, so I did a backup of all my bookmarks and migrated to another
Bookmark Tool.

At this moment, I am using Diigo. But, as soon as Blinklist come back
to life again, with all their resources and facilities, I will be a
BLINKLISTER again, no douct about it.

It's important to keep this in mind: Don't trust anyone on internet.
Always make a backup of all your stuff. Nothing last forever.

I'm more concerned because all I am seeing is either:

"503 Service Unavailable - The server is temporarily busy, try again
later! Powered By LiteSpeed Web Server"

OR

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Zend_Cache_Exception' with message
'Invalid id or tag (etc etc)

And, as someone else said on the help system:

"Where are my fiends ? widgets ? tagcloud ? i can't enable access to
google gears ... the search engine doesn't work"

Hi there,

Here is a quick update:

1) We backed up all links from all users and will be importing them slowly into the new service

2) We are having some growing pains, anytime you move to a completely new environment, it
will take a little bit of time and tweaking to fully optimize everything

We are going to work as fast as we can to get everything setup and running smoothly. I am estimating
1-2 weeks until BlinkList is blazing fast again.

Mike

I'm glad to hear that all links were backed up, but I am confused
about the "being live" part vs the "I don't have any links" part. I'm
not as concerned about how fast blinklist is, just about when I might
expect to see my links or my startpage again. Will it be a few weeks
before this happens?

I'm not trying to complain, I appreciate the work you guys are doing.
I just miss my blink list ;)

We continue to import links.  Go to the "getting started" section in the option menu and request that we import your links first!  :-)

Mike,

I've submitted the request a couple days ago at least to have my blinks imported.  What kind of time frame are we dealing with before we see our blinks.  I had over 8000.  Now, nothing but what's been blinked since the transition to V2.

Also, when can we expect to see the Firefox extension do anything but show us a "recently blinked" list?

Hi Fred,

What's your username on BlinkList.  I can make sure we take care of you first.  :-)

The FireFox extension can also cache entire pages!  That is very powerful so you will never lose a web page again and even access it off line.

What other features do you really miss from the old FireFox extension?

Mike,
I must admit I'm still a bit concerned. I have thousands of bookmarks
as well and though I use my bookmarks religiously for my self - I must
admit that my bookmarks are an invaluable resource to many students,
faculty, and others who are aware of them. I've started to receive
complaints from students that they no longer can access these
resources. I also encourage students to create their own online
bookmarking accounts because of how useful it is - and through this
upgrade I have quite a few that are frustrated. A handful have already
switched to delicious, despite the fact that you guys will likely be
finished with this upgrade in the next week or two.

Also, I'm curious when we should anticipate "blazing fast" - I know
you guys are still upgrading but I have noticed still some pretty long
wait times just for my bookmarks - where only just over 400 are
showing. I'm unsure if it's struggling loading the interface or if
it's due to the upgrade still being in progress.

Obviously the biggest concern is all of our bookmarks - and a close
second is the long term stability of blinklist. I realize this is a
huge project for you guys and there's lots of data to transfer but my
concern is that in another two years there'll be another upgrade where
we're frustrated with the "experience".

Please accept my apologies if I seem to be complaining too much -
however, I think the word for all of us who have been quite faithful
to blinklist right now is that we are concerned and still waiting for
that reassurance we feel we've been promised for months now. I look
forward to seeing the new blinklist in action and hope that it's as
impressive as my first experiences with blinklist.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm also having the problem with
blinking - when I use the firefox extension to bookmark a web site it
just brings up a new window with my list of bookmarks - so I can't
blink. :o(
