FYI, this group has been vandalized. The front page of the group opens
with a highly offensive and highly visible commercial ad. I fixed or
remove the links on other pages that were vandalized to go to porn
sites, and emptied an uploaded page that did the same.

I can't delete that page, though, and can't seem to be able to fix the
front page. There is also a file that if you click on from Windows/IE
will install malware on your computer. I can't delete that file.

If whoever is the admin here gives elevated privileges to some trusted
group members (presumably all current ones?) we can pitch in with
keeping the site clean.

Thanks for alerting me to this Hilmar.

I am sorry that this has happened.

I have removed the offending material and changed the registration to
be by invitation - which is a shame but I guess it is the world we
live in.

I have raised your status to 'manager' so that you can delete stuff as
well.

If anyone else would like to be a manager please let me know and I'll
up your status too.

The approach I have taken to stop this happening in the future is
therefore to carry on allowing members to contribute to anything
(discussion, files, pages) but to have some level of vetting on who
becomes a member. No content is hidden from the public at large. I
will promote any member who seems trust worthy to being a manager if
they want to take on that responsibility.

Does this seem reasonable?

Hi Roger - sounds very reasonable. I still can't delete that page
(which I renamed to 'please delete'), but maybe that's because Google
Groups doesn't allow the deletion of pages once they are added?

This is a *great* effort BTW.

OK I have found where to delete it an removed it. (You have to go in
to edit the page and select to see more options)

Thanks,

Roger
