Hello Gafarou,

If you are on Windows then use the Windows Binary installation instructions.  These are essentially (1) extract the files in the zip archive and (2) double click on the BiodiverseGUI executable.
https://github.com/shawnlaffan/biodiverse/wiki/InstallationWindowsBinary

The process is the same for Mac and Linux binaries so they could probably be combined.

If possible, can you let me know which part needs to be clarified?  If you have issues then I am sure there will be others in the same situation.  For example, the difference between source code and binary on the Downloads page might not be clear.

Regards,
Shawn.

Hello sir

Thank for your response.

In fact, I don't know where I can download the zip archive.

When I clicked on the following link (https://github.com/shawnlaffan/biodiverse/wiki/InstallationWindowsBinary), the new page is below:

So, I could not find the download link (zip).

Thanks

Hello Gafarou,

Thanks for letting me know.

The downloads page contains a link to the files.  I have just made this a little more obvious, but let me know if it needs to be clearer.
https://github.com/shawnlaffan/biodiverse/wiki/Downloads

I have also added a link to the downloads page from the main installation page.
https://github.com/shawnlaffan/biodiverse/wiki/Installation

The downloads page currently links to the 4.2 release page on github, and will be updated when the next version is released.

Shawn.

Hello sir
When, I finish downloading I  (1) extracted the files in the zip archive and (2) double click on the BiodiverseGUI executable

1-Was the installation finished?

2-If yes what is the next step to use? I meant a tutorial

3-If no, what can I do?

Thanks

In addition, what is the importance of the *Source code* folder zip?

Am I going to use it?

Hello Gafarou,

It has worked.

To get an idea of what to do next, please open the quick start guide.  It is available from the Downloads page.
https://github.com/shawnlaffan/biodiverse/wiki/Downloads#quick-start-guide

That document is also linked to from the main help page, which you can access from the GUI using the Help menu.

Regards,
Shawn.

The source code is for people using operating systems for which there is no binary executable available, or when people wish to see the underlying computer code used for the system.

It is unlikely you will need it.

Regards,
Shawn.

Hello sir.

In fact, I want to import my own raster data.

But it didn't work. The Basedata functions were not active

Hello Gafarou,

The project needs a basedata to be already loaded before you can attach group or label properties.

If your data are in delimited text files then the quick start guide provides details for how to import them.
If they are shapefiles then see https://biodiverse-analysis-software.blogspot.com/2018/12/import-polygon-and-polyline-data.html
If they are in spreadsheets then see https://biodiverse-analysis-software.blogspot.com/2015/06/import-your-species-data-from.html

If you have rasters then there is not yet a description of the process, which is something of an oversight.  The process is similar to the others, though.  Use Basedata > Import to start the process.  In the first window change the type to "raster" (the default is "text") and select the files to import from.  The next window will let you specify the cell size and other options.

If you are not sure what the options do then hover over them and the system will generate a small popup with some help text.

If your data are in a multiband raster, e.g. there is one band per taxon, then you will also need to remap the band names (this will be fixed in version 4.3).

Regards,
Shawn.
