I came across this great animated video that graphically conveys the danger of riding a bicycle too far to the right of a lane.  I've used Matchbox toy cars to demonstrate the correct lane position in discussions with interested bicyclists (BTW, anyone ever see a Matchbox bicycle?  Why not?), but this animated video does a way better job.  You can find the video at this link:

And ... if you are interested in even more information about bicycling safely, allow me to introduce you to Mr. Robert Hurst, the author of several books on bicycling, including The Art of [Urban] Cycling.  Probably many of you have read several of Hurst's books, but did you know he also has a website?  Among the several tabs, this author has a "Research" tab where you can scroll through literature references on bicycle safety testing, performance physiology, etc.  It's a treasure trove of information that I'll be mining in the months to come.  Here's the link to Robert Hurst's website:
