Here are a couple of items worth mentioning.  It's a good news/bad news kind of thing.  First the good news.

Mr. Blumenauer goes to New York City to ride bikes

It's not everyday that you get to ride bikes in a big metropolis with a member of Congress, even one who loves to bicycle whenever he can.

Recent news from the Los Angeles, CA area about something that didn't have to happen...

Physician accused of deliberately injuring two bicyclists is convicted

Christopher Thompson, 60, is convicted of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and other charges in the crash that injured cyclists Ron Peterson and Christian Stoehr on Mandeville Canyon Road in 2008.

This is not rocket science.  We, as a community, can come together to make our Fort Collins a better place to ride a bike.  Please plan on attending our Community Bike Talk next Thursday, November 12, for an open discussion about how we can prevent this type of tragedy from happening in Fort Collins and northern Colorado.  Please ask your non-bicycle riding friends to attend.  We need to hear their side.

For everyone that was able to attend the 2009 Bike Talk, you heard some interesting accident data analysis coming from Jeff Emmel.

For those that missed the Bike Talk, Joe Olsen, Fort Collins' Traffic Engineer, will give another presentation on this data.  Plan on attending the November BLT (Bike Lunch Talk) to hear Joe talk about his data.

The November Bike Lunch Talk is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17.  Join us for a brown bag lunch and learn about the City's recent study regarding bicycle accident data.  The City's Traffic Engineer, Joe Olsen, will present his findings and share valuable information regarding bicycle/motorist accidents.  This information may surprise you!
