RABAT, Oct 27 (AFP) Oct 27, 2006
At least 10 people died and one was missing after strong rains and
floods hit Morocco's southwestern Essaouira and Safi provinces on
Wednesday, the country's 2M public television channel announced on Friday.
In a previous toll on Thursday, Essaouira'a local authorities announced
four deaths in Takat and Tamanar and two people reported missing.
On Friday, 2M said that a flooded wadi, or watercourse, in the town of
Safi caused the deaths of six members of the same family, who were swept
away in a taxi. The town is some 350 kilometers (217 miles) southwest of
the capital Rabat.
