Hundreds Involved in Brawl at Kansas City Casino*

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A routine arrest at a North Kansas City casino
Sunday quickly escalated into a massive melee involving 450 people,
police said.

Officers were attempting to arrest a number of suspects at the VooDoo
Lounge in Harrah's casino when the suspects fought back. Other casino
patrons joined in the fracas until hundreds of people were involved.

Police backed off until officers from other area law enforcement
agencies could arrive to help quell the disturbance. Five people were
later arrested in the fight.

Two North Kansas City officers and numerous casino employees and patrons
also received minor injuries.
