Earthquake after earthquake as 200+ quakes shake Bulgaria/Macedonia*

Sofia. Earthquakes in Macedonian Valandovo continue. Some tremors are
felt in Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil regions in Bulgaria. FOCUS News
Agency collected information about the situation before noon in a brief
summery.

Earth shocks repeat every 10-20 minutes in Macedonia, journalist at BTB
television channel Dimce Baleski told FOCUS News Agency.

People of Macedonian Valandovo town had spend the nigh at the open-air.
Some citizens were covered in their cars, other set up tents.

There is a rumor among the people in Valandovo that a heavy quake is
expected after which bowels of the earth would calm down, Baleski explained.

About 200 earthquakes have been registered since May 23 until now in
Macedonia, from which 40 were felt by people.

Series of high- intensity and low-intensity earthquakes have been
registered in the night with epicenter around Valandovo, Southeastern
Macedonia. FOCUS News Agency informs after reference to the online page
of the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). A total of 11
earthquakes have been registered in the time zone from 10.37pm to 7.50am
Bulgarian time.

The two tremors with the highest intensity were felt at 7.17pm and at
10.37pm.

Many aftershocks have been registered in the night after the earthquakes
that jolted Macedonia and were felt in Bulgaria on Sunday. The secondary
tremors were with considerably lower intensity and most of them haven’t
been felt by the citizens, press centre of the Ministry of Extraordinary
Situations (MES) informed.

At 7.50am on Monday another quakes has been registered with epicenter
some 160 km far from Sofia, out of the country.
The tremor measured 3,9 on the Richter scale and has been felt in
Southwestern Bulgaria. So far there is no information about damages.

The most intensive quakes were registered on Sunday at 7.18pm – 5,2 on
the Richter scale and at 10.37pm – 4,5 on the Richter scale. The two
quakes were felt in the regions of western and southwestern Bulgaria.

No material damages of injured people have bee reported after last nigh
earthquake, press centre of the Ministry of Extraordinary Situations
(MES) informed.

According to Geophysical Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of
Science’s data quake was registered in Bulgaria about 10.37 p.m. The
quake measured 4,5 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the quake was about 160 km southeastern from Sofia,
outside the country.

Lots of quake aftershocks were registered in Bulgaria after the strong
earthquake. There is no information about victims and damages at
Bulgaria’s territory.

Tremors were felt in Western and Southwestern Bulgaria – Sofia, Pernik,
Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad.

Two earthquakes and many aftershocks have been registered in Bulgaria on
Sunday and in the night.

Earthquake measuring 4.0 on Richter scale was registered at 5.29 p.m.,
Ministry of Emergency situation press center informed.
According to Geophysical Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Science
the epicenter of the quake was about 160 km southeastern from Sofia
outside country’s territory.

The quake was felt in the region of Petrich municipality, Blagoevgrad
district.

There is no information about victims or material damages.

Second earthquake, measuring 5.2 on Richer scale was registered in Bulgaria.

According to Geophysical Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of
Science’s data quake was registered in Bulgaria about 7.18 p.m.

The epicenter of the quake was about 160 km southeastern from Sofia,
outside the country.

Lots of quake aftershocks were registered in Bulgaria after the strong
earthquake. There is no information about their exact number.

So far no signals of citizens for panics have been received in Sofia
Municipality over the earthquakes that jolted the capital last night,
Deputy Mayor of Sofia for Coordination, Control, Public Order and
Security Yuliya Nenkova said for FOCUS News Agency.

No alerts for material damages of injured people have been received at
Sofia Municipality.

Landslide had closed E-79 main road in both directions. About 6 to 7
thousand cubic meters of rocks had fallen on the road at about 7.15pm.

About 16 km car line had formed along blocked road.

Formed line of cars at the gorge was about 10km long and about 6-7km
long line of cars along the road to the town of Blagoevgrad. Traffic was
temporarily suspended in both directions.
