Wife says man told her he was trying to help slain girls, 8 and 10

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Funeral services are set for two sisters found dead
in their burning home in Sioux City last weekend.
Services for Kendra Suing, 10, and her sister, Alysha, 8, will be at
10:30 a.m Friday at Heartland Community Baptist Church.
Their stepfather, Lawrence Harris Sr., is accused of the Satanic Ritual
stabbing and strangling the girls on Sunday, then setting their house on
fire to cover up the crime, police said.
Police said it was part of an unexplained Satanic ritual linked to his
unconventional religious beliefs.
The mother of the two Sioux City girls said her husband described
himself as a pagan and routinely practiced Satanic spells on those
around him.
Marla Harris told The Des Moines Register that her husband told her at
the Police Department that he was trying to help the girls.
The girls' mother was at work when firefighters and police responded to
a fire at her home.
Family members said they knew little about Harris but had no reason to
believe he would hurt the children.
Harris is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He's being
held in the Woodbury County jail on $2 million bond.
