BEIJING -- Seven more people have died of the mosquito-borne
Encephalitis B disease in north China this week, the official Xinhua
News Agency said Friday.
The deaths in Shaanxi province came on the heels of an outbreak of the
disease in the neighboring province of Shanxi which killed at least 19
people. Another 65 people have been infected since July 13, state media
has said.
Xinhua did not give details of the seven deaths in Shaanxi but said 186
people had died since January from Encephalitis B.
The disease causes an inflammation of membranes around the brain.
Symptoms include high fever, seizures and headaches.
