BERLIN (Reuters) - Three people drowned in heavy floods following
thunderstorms in southwestern Germany overnight, police said on Tuesday.

One woman died when she was surprised by the rising waters in her
cellar, a spokesman said, adding two other people were killed when their
car was swept away by the floods.

Water levels were several meters high overnight in the Killertal valley
in southern Germany, where inhabitants had fled to the upper floors of
their homes, police said. The floods had swept cars away and damaged
several buildings.
