Major Flood warnings issued for UK as more rain is predicted*

Forecasters have warned of major flooding across Britain with more
heavy rain set to hit areas already saturated by days of downpours.

More rain is underway overnight

Another band of rain is predicted for Wales and England overnight and
tomorrow, following heavy showers during the weekend.

More than 2,000 teenagers were evacuated from Dartmoor on Saturday night
when the Ten Tors two-day walk was abandoned due to rising river levels.

Three flood watches were in place in the Midlands by late afternoon,
down from 12 across England and Wales this morning, the Environment
Agency said.

But forecaster Brendan Jones, of MeteoGroup UK, said more heavy rain was
expected to hit Wales soon after midnight and England tomorrow morning.

"The rain that hit England and Wales over the last few days is clearing
but there is another band on its way.

"It will be dry across most of England tonight but there will be a wet
start tomorrow. This could cause problems for areas that are already
saturated," he said.

Over the last few days, the heaviest rain fell in south west England,
Wales and the West Midlands. Camborne in Cornwall saw yesterday's
highest rainfall at 37.6mm.

More wet weather is expected later this week across the north of
England, with maximum temperatures of 13C or 14C, Mr Jones said.

The south of England will turn dry after Wednesday, but will still have
little sunshine with temperatures reaching highs of 16C or 17C.
