4 Raging Wildfires in southern Arizona keep crews busy*

Firefighters continued to work several wildfires burning in the Coronado
National Forest.

The White Tank Fire, which was about 5 percent contained, had grown
about 1,000 acres since Tuesday night for a total of 8,000 acres, said
Marylee Peterson, a Coronado National Forest spokeswoman.

The fire is burning in the Tumacacori Mountains, about 6 miles northeast
of a subdivision, Peterson said. The Tubac Fire Department went door to
door warning residents of the possibility of having to evacuate, but as
of this morning, the order to do so had not been issued.

Seven engines along with three type 2 hand crews were working the blaze,
according to Peterson.

The nearby Nuevo Fire remained at 2,500 acres, Peterson said. Two
engines, a short hand crew and an Arizona Department of Forestry crew
was assigned to the blaze.

A Type 2 incident management team has been ordered for the Nuevo and
White Tank fires, which are presumed to be human caused, Peterson said.
The team is scheduled to arrive this afternoon and will likely take over
Thursday morning.

Updates were not available for the Jackwood Fire or the Distillery Fire.

The Jackwood Fire had burned about 240 acres on the east side of the
Chiricahua Mountains. This blaze was ignited by lightning.

The Distillery Fire has burned approximately 5,000 acres on the South
Side of the Rincon Mountains.
