TREMONTON, UTAH - An earthquake has been reported in northern Utah. It
has been registered with a magnitude of 4.0. It happened at 3:47 PM.

The epicenter of the quake, considered relatively light, was about four
miles west of Riverside and nine miles northwest of Tremonton.

There are no reports of damage or injuries from the quake. People have
called our station saying they had felt the tremor.

People in 17 Utah cities and four Idaho cities - all within 40 miles of
the epicenter - reported feeling the quake.

Five earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 or larger have occurred in that area
since 1962. The largest was a 6.0 quake in 1975 about 17 miles southwest
of Malad City, Idaho.
