China quake toll rises to 70,000*

THE death toll from China's earthquake has reached 70,00, with at least
another 18,000 missing, the State Council said today.

The confirmed death toll, sent in a statement to AFP, marked an increase
of just over 100 deaths from the day before.

China is still reeling from the massive earthquake on May 12.
