Two Polish tourists have died from suspected heat exhaustion while
hiking on the Greek island of Crete, police sources in the town of Hania
said on Friday.
The Polish tourists, a brother and sister, lost touch with their touring
group on Saturday in the Samaria Gorge National Park, a popular hiking
trail in southwestern Crete.
The 37-year-old man was found alive on Thursday evening midway through
the canyon but died before he could be taken to hospital, while his
40-year-old sister was found dead in the same area on Friday morning.
An autopsy is scheduled to be held Saturday.
The pair were part of a group of 31 Polish tourists who only advised
authorities on Monday that two of them had gone missing.
