A FEMALE police officer is fighting for life with her two children and
her mother believed to be dead after a person launched a vicious axe
attack inside her home in central-western New South Wales.
Police are seeking a man who is believed to have fled the house in Cowra
in a car and possibly be heading to Newcastle.
They fear he could commit more violence.
Officers were called to the home shortly after 2pm (AEST) today where
they found the bodies of the children and women, whose ages are yet to
be confirmed.
An ambulance spokeswoman confirmed officers were alerted by police that
someone had attacked people inside the Brougham St home with an axe.
“After 2pm we responded to reports from police that people had been
attacked with an axe,’’ she said.
Ambulance officers were unable to revive the three dead.
”Unfortunately we’ve confirmed three people deceased at the scene – an
adult female and two children.’’
An ambulance spokeswoman said she had not been advised of the ages of
the victims or the sex of the two children.
A fourth person has been taken to Cowra Hospital suffering serious head
injuries.
