HE claimed to give orphans spiritual guidance, but the Rev. Moses Ojele
now faces charges of defrauding them.
The Police in Lira on Friday arrested Ojele of the Voice of Salvation
Church on allegations of extorting money from orphans in displaced
people's camps.
Ojele, the director of Gate of Hope International, which the Police
believe is a fake charity, Pastor Seddy atim and five other people were
arrested after it was reported that they had collected over sh5m from
1,700 orphans.
Lira Police chief raymond Otim said Ojelo collected sh3,000 per child,
with the promise that his charity would scan pictures of them and e-mail
them to donors, who would send money for their education. He did not
name the donors."They were massively conning people.
They wanted to register 3,000 orphans but in Aromo on Thursday, the LC5
councillor, Patrick Ayena, stopped them when they failed to explain
their objectives."
