DALLAS, May 7 (UPI) -- Strong storms are predicted for large parts of
the United States Wednesday as two separate storm systems move through
the Plains and the northern Plains.
By Wednesday evening there will be the potential for severe weather over
Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, which already have experienced tornadoes
less than a week ago, AccuWeather.com reported.
"The number of tornadoes the first week of May could rival the 2003
outbreak where 349 tornadoes occurred," AccuWeather.com senior
meteorologist and severe weather expert Henry Margusity said. "So far this
month we have had nearly 100 tornado reports, and over the next three
days, we could add a significant number of tornadoes."
Another storm system moving into the northern Plains is predicted to
bring isolated strong storms.
Dallas-Fort Worth television station CBS 11 has predicted storms in
Texas could be very strong, if not severe, tornadoes possible.
Oklahoma Web site NewsOK.com said the National Weather Service was
forecasting a threat for severe thunderstorms in Oklahoma overnight as a
strong upper-level storm system moves from the southern Rockies into the
southern plains.
