HEAVY rain could lead to flash flooding across parts of New South Wales,
the Bureau of Meteorology warns.

The warning applies to the Hunter, Northern Rivers and mid-North Coast
regions and Sydney, where rain is expected to intensify overnight and
continue tomorrow.

The Bureau says a low pressure trough off the northern NSW and southern
Queensland coast is responsible for the heavy rain.

People in the affected areas are advised not to enter flood waters and
stay well clear of creeks, storm drains and causeways.
