Iran develops stealth pilotless drone
TEHRAN, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- Iran is capable of producing a pilotless
stealth drone with a range of 700 kilometres (420 miles) which will be
undetected by radars, Iran's Revolutionary Guards, General Yahya Rahim
Safavi said Saturday.
Safavi told Iran's Arabic-Language satellite news channel "Al-Alam" that
they "have built a drone which can collect information and films, and
the material and the shape of this drone make it undetectable for
radars, so it can not be targeted." The Iranian General said the drone
has passed its experimental phase and it is being mass produced, adding
that they are currently using it in military operations.
The announcement comes a few days after troops under his command
successfully tested a surface-to-sea missile with a range of about 350
kilometres (210 miles) and a new Russian-made air defense missile system.
At another front, Iranian leaders have repeatedly said the Islamic
republic's armed forces are ready for any surprises in the current
standoff with the West over its nuclear programme.
Safavi repeated warnings against the United States in conducting any
military action against Iran, adding all U.S. bases in the region will
be the target of their forces if Washington proceeds with military
