Here's a story that will be published in the community press regarding
a few of the Bhutanese. It's a perfect story for the holidays.

We have about 18 more people arriving prior to the holidays. I can't
THANK all of you enough for your generosity and support of the
Bhutanese.

In addition to the haircuts, here are additional updates and
blessings:

In a week we will be cleaning, painting and furnishing two homes that
will be used for new arrivals.

. A number of families have been adopted for Christmas.
. People have been extremely generous with coats, warm clothing and
blankets. All of our existing people are dressed warm.
. A local group "Scarf It Up" provided hats, scarves and gloves for 80
refugees. We were able to get them delivered with the coats right
before the cold weather hit.
. Eight more people started jobs since I last wrote.
. The teenagers were able to rake leaves to earn spending money over
the past couple of weeks.
. I, the person that puts up a Christmas tree in each room, introduced
some of the families to Christmas decorating.
. We have four families attending church or temple each Sunday!
. Anu, a new Nepali driver, has been teaching a couple of the guys to
drive.
. The handicapped boy that arrived about a month ago unable to walk is
now able to take 3-4 steps on his own and eating some solid food for
the first time!
. I had another person approach me last night and ask why I would take
on such a big effort as this project. I explained that there is
tremendous joy and satisfaction in working with the families. They
touch my heart with their simple smiles. This basic gesture allows me
to take a moment to reflect on what's really important. Also, in a
time where it's hard to see human kindness, I see it each day through
the outpouring of love through donations and assistance that so many
are providing to complete strangers. I've met so many people who not
only are helping these people but so many others in their day to day
life. How much more rewarding can it get than that?
With Love,
Sheryl
