Bhutanese Refugees In CIncinnati
Hundreds of Nepali families have been living in Bhutan for generations. About 20 years back these Nepali families faced political turmoil, when King of Bhutan asked these Nepali origin people either to convert to Buddhism or leave the country. These Nepali families, 95% Hindus, refused to convert and were forced out. About 120000 Bhutanese refugees have been living in south west part of Nepal in Huts without electricity and other facilities. Last year with UNO humanitarian aid and Catholic social services initiative these refugees were granted political asylum in USA and other countries. USA got a quota of 60,000 refugees and other countries got the rest. Thousands of families have started coming to several cities of USA since last year. So far, Cincinnati has received 100 people… about fifteen families. These families have extended family set , three generations living together.
Though they get government aid for some times, but Hindu community also has added responsibility for helping our Hindu brothers and sisters.

Please let me know if u would like to add something to this .One of the biggest issues is transportation and the other is language. Language can still be overcome . The other issue is training them for domestic jobs.
Also, I have some clothes and other household items that I would like to donate. WHere can I take them?
