A free family friend search can work, but not necessarily always. To
say it works means it is foolproof, which it simply isn't. You can't
expect a site that offers you free services to go through a very long
process for you and thousands of other people. The number one
complaint about sites that provide free family search tools is that
they don't come up with detailed or complete information. You would
have to do pretty much 90 percent of the work by trying to narrow down
your search, keying in additional details and being more specific.
You'll have to do additional things like ask your lost relative's or
friend's previous neighbors if they have any bits of information that
may be relevant to you.
A free family friend search may work if, for instance, your lost
family member or friend has an uncommon surname. There are people who
obtain successful results with free sites, but only after weeks or
months of exhausting work. Moreover, even if you used a lot of your
time and efforts on a single family or friend search, there is still
not guarantee you'll find the person you're looking for. Addresses may
turn out to be outdated, contact numbers may no longer work, and the
person you're looking for may have changed her last name.
However, someone or a team of professionals can definitely help you
find a person of interest, even if he/she has changed some personal
details, but since this takes time and money, a fee is often required.
So does a site that provides free search tools to find lost friends
and family really work? Well, yes, if you're willing to spend hours
for all your efforts, and risk zero results in the end.
