Hello Mates,

Quite the week, had the thru hull for the dripless fail. Luckily, no damage and was able to haul out quickly. Now I need to replace the thru-hull (with clamshell) on my '96 440. I beleive it is metric, slighlty larger than 1/2", does anyone know where to source metric thru hulls in the US? Alternatively, would replacing with a 1/2" thru hull pose any concerns? The current clamshell looks a bit different from the Groco, any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Jon Schultz

Thanks Mark,

I was finally able to reset my pw to the spare parts site, it does appear to be a 1/2". Off to West Marine as I need it by tomorrow.

You need an engine scoop mounted backwards.

A typical thru hull would not scoop up water.

This is not an outlet.

Thanks Fletch, Yes the thru-hull with clamshell vent/Scoop. I am replacing the all of the ball valves and connections with bronze fittings.

Turns out it was a 1/2" thru hull. The opening has threaded bronze. Once I removed the one screw it had into the hull I was able to unscrew the old thru hull and prep it for the new one. No damage and it looks almost brand new.
