This seems to be an issue with the 2008 373. Does anyone have a sugestion
on replacing Freezer/refrigerator with a more efficient setup?

I bought a new C130 Vitrifrigo and it works very well, with an external compressor.  In the Bahamas this winter it kept everything at 38 degrees using about 3 amps and hour.  On for about 20 minutes and off for about 20 mintues.

Thanks for the information, I kind of thought I'd have to go that route.

Was it easy to remove the old fridge?

Remove was pretty straight forward, getting it up a d put through the companionable is a 2-3 person job.  Gotta be careful not to scratch the wood!

Possibly stupid question. I've got a 2006 373. My Freezer and Fridge share a compressor with a large chill plate in the freezer, a small one in the fridge, and a manual thermostat in the fridge. Everything is behind wood paneling with veneer that still looks acceptable.

Did you have a separate fridge/freezer setup?

Did you have to cut away the existing furniture or countertops to remove what you have?

I know I'm currently pulling about 70W on my DC power while running the fridge, so if I were to call it 12v that should be approximately 6 amps, which drains my batteries much quicker than I'd like. (I upgraded my house batteries to Lithium and added solar two years ago)

The fridge has been an ongoing question of how I can make it better, with one possible solution be to better insulate the original enclosures, but I've not figured out how I might do that cleanly. Another item is a digital thermostat controlling the compressor, which is much easier, but I'd still have to power the thermostat and decide which box gets the sensor.

Thanks so much for your info, I'm living aboard my 2006 373 and am quite tired of not having a reliable freezer/refridgerator setup.

I've been following your messages and was also wondering what you did for the freezer after replacing the fridge.
