I am a new owner of a 2000 Beneteau 331, can't wait to get it out on the water.  I'll be out cruising fairly often so am setting up a few things that weren't on the boat when I got it.

I've searched the old posts on this and found a lot of good info, but not totally solved my issue.  What I am looking for is a replacement bow roller for the anodized aluminum one that came standard on the boat.  I can't imagine an anchor actually sitting up there without tearing up the fiberglass.

Does anyone have any info sourcing the extended stainless roller?  Part #, dealer,etc..  I'm striking out when going through beneteau, and their parts diagrams only show the original aluminum model.  If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

I had given up hope finding it and happened to be walking around a marina out of town and saw a boat with exactly what I was looking for.  I want to exhaust the OEM SS replacement options first, but if I can't will probably get an aftermarket roller and split it like many of you have in the past.

I attached two photos.  One is what I have, the other is what I am looking for.

Thanks for all the help,

Dan

Dan;
We are the owners of hull no.277, a 2003 model.
Ours came with the "early" small aluminum bow fitting. These had a recall in 2004 due to not having proper fender washers installed inside the anchor locker. It's an easy fix if this problem exists. The factory brought out the larger cast aluminum fitting in , I believe, 2005.
The second photo is,I believe, from the 340 series of boats and were standard from the factory, not custom made.
My Delta anchor hit the bow so I did make a custom application. I bought an off the shelf St.Stl. roller assembly that was wider than the gap between the two aluminum "ears". I then had a friend cut out a thin section and re-weld the two halves so that they would fit into the existing bow roller. I then simply bolted the new assembly in place with S.S. carriage bolts (so the anchor line didn't snag) with a number of bolts and this has held for the past 15 years in some relatively heavy anchoring situations. Total cost was, I'm sure, less than $200.00.

Thanks for the insight.  Do you know if I can source the part from the 340 boat?  Does anyone have a part number?  I'd suspect it is a similar bolt pattern.

I'm also entertaining something more substantial with bracing to the bow.  For anchor or asym tack.  Someone brought this to my attention yesterday.  I'm not sure how I feel about the look, but need to look at more photos and  maybe can make something work.

Probably going to end up being a project for the fall.

I have no knowledge about the newer parts except my friend has one and that’s how I recognized it.
The anchor roller I installed has a bail to capture the anchor rode, and I have attached a cruising spinnaker to the bail with a snap hook and had no problems.

Interesting, do you have any pictures of your setup?

Do you see any lateral strain on it if you sail on a beam reach or do you typically sail on a deeper broad reach with the cruising spinnaker?

Leaving today for a two week vacation, so no chance for photos for a while. If interested I’ll try to remember when we get home.
My cruising sail did not seem to create any issues since we would only carry it in mild winds anyway.

Enjoy the vacation.   If you think of it when back on the boat it would be appreciated.

I'm taking a two week vacation also, exploring Lake Erie, Huron, and Michigan to deliver my new (twenty year old) boat home.  Boat is in Huron, Ohio and needs to get to Chicago.
