I am trying to decide if I need to adjust my maxi-prop.
With the previous 2.53:1 transmission, I had to run at RPM to get
6 knots and the engine bled an ounce or so of oil on short trips
but never enough to require topping up between changes.
This replacement tranny is as far as I can tell ~1.2:1 and I can get the engine up to a true 2760 to 2800 RPM. More throttle does nothing but the boat makes 6 knots plus with a clean hull.
After this change I was surprised not to see any oil
under the engine after three or four hours running.
So, should I adjust the prop or just be thankful that it is
working so well?
I had understood that it is proper to adjust the prop so it just allows the engine to reach the max RPMs but what is that number for a 103-10? I looked everywhere for torque and fuel consumption curves with no luck.
I'm happy now, but is my engine happy?
