I have a GORI 3 blade prop on my 473. We are full time live aboards in the eastern Caribbean. When I clean the hull I clean the prop but it never gets to a point it doesn’t fold. We splashed in October after a refit in Trinidad and so far the prop is working fine. This time, I smeared it with a healthy coat of Lanacote grease before we splashed. I was led to believe the lanacote will discourage barnacle growth on the blades.
So far so good, I dived it today and the blades fold and there is no meaningful growth on the areas I greased.
I’ve been told the grease doesn’t last forever, and the claims the you can re-apply it in the water are over-stated. At this point it is performing as good as the expensive spray-on coating I applied last season.
What ever it takes you really want your GORI prop blades to move, to enjoy the benefits of the design!

On my 44cc I have a Gori 3-blade folding prop which is a sorry sight at the
end of the season and despite greasing the gearing, the contamination often
means the prop no longer folds. I have been researching various greases and
came across Lanoguard Marine Grease which makes great claims of underwater
performance. Has anyone in the group used this product and if so, what
success (or otherwise) you have had with it?

What does the manufacturer recommend? I have a max prop and it specifically
calls for 130-AA Calcium based grease. Lasts the year without a problem.

Gori recommend a lithium based grease but that is just not working. The
yacht has just been lifted out this week, after 8 months in the water and
the blades could not be closed using as much hand pressure I can muster.
