The BHG's annual Best of the Bay homebrew competition is approaching, and the window is now OPEN to register your entries!

We've been getting some fantastic participation in club comps so far this year - let's carry that momentum forward. Why should you enter? You'll get honest, constructive feedback that can help identify blind spots in your evaluation of your own beer and help you refine your processes and recipes to make even better beer. There's also a good chance you'll earn some public recognition for your brewing skills in the form of a medal and possibly some prizes. And with respect to our friends further south in Puget Sound, it's always fun to see local brewers and BHG members claiming medals at the awards ceremony - but first you have to enter.

Head to the competition website to register your entries now. You'll likely need to create an account again even if you've entered in the past, as we start fresh every year. The entry window will remain open until July 22, or until we reach the entry cap, whichever comes first.

Entry fees are not due until drop-off, so don't wait - register those entries now. Dues-paying BHG members will receive a discount code via email in the near future for entry payment.

The entry drop-off window is July 1-22. If you're in the Bellingham area, your local drop-off location will be Beach Cat South Paw. That still leaves nearly a month, so it's not too late to brew something specifically for the competition!

While you're on the competition website registering entries, you'll also have the option to indicate whether you're available to help judge or steward. It takes a lot of volunteer effort to put these events on, and we greatly appreciate any help you're able to provide.

And finally, another reminder that Best of the Bay will be capped off with an awards ceremony and homebrew festival on Sunday, August 9. We'd love it if you could brew and donate a keg of homebrew to bring and share. Sharing homebrew with each other is the foundation of our club, and we need your participation to help make this event successful year after year. As always, there will be a coveted People's Choice Award, and beyond bragging rights, maybe it could be your beer on tap somewhere around town next year (actual prize not yet determined).
