Beledi Club
The Beledi Club will be performing at the International Cultural
Festival at UAH on November 14. There will be performances throughout
the day at the CHAN Auditorium that Wednesday, Nov 14 between 11 and 2
pm. Or you can go by UAH throughout the week to see displays
featuring several international cultures.
Shahala of the Beledi Club is once again hosting the now 4th Annual
Toys for Tots Hafla to be held on Saturday, November 17. Tickets are
$10 in advance or $15 at the door ($5 off ticket price with new toy
donation). A silent auction will be held as well and all proceeds
will go towards the Marine's Toys for Tots program. The show will be
held at the American Legion Post 237 - 2900 Drake Avenue - Huntsville,
AL. Doors open for silent auction and dinner at 6:00 pm. Show to
begin at 8:00 pm. Your ticket only covers admission to the show.
Dinner and drinks are available for purchase.
Lisa Wylie, owner of The Studio, is sponsoring a workshop in December
featuring The A-Team: Alima and Aegela together again! As a summary,
the workshop will be held December 8 and 9 at The Studio - 1219 C
Jordan Lane. Saturday class will consist of Alima teaching Saidi
technique part 1 - with zils. Aegela will be teaching her "Aegela-
isms" - unique combinations of Egyptian technique with Aegela's
flair. Sunday's class will consist of Alima teaching Saidi technique
part 2 - with cane. Aegela will teach The Arabic Family and Its
Relatives - travelling movements of this dance form. Special super-
duper rate for the entire workshop is $90 - pre-registration for this
